Gmail Notifier for Google Hosted/Apps Accounts
Posted by john in help, web

I recently had a client who we switched over to use the Google Hosted (aka Google Apps) accounts. One of the users had been using Google Notifier for his personal Gmail account and now that we had moved them over to Google Hosted, he wanted to use it to ..well… be notified of new emails. But Google Notifier only works with stanard Gmail accounts, not the Hosted accounts.

The easiest way to do this is to simply install Google Talk (direct download). Just install the program and enter in your Google Hosted account information. This will allow you to not only be notified of new emails, but also allow you to use Google’s sweet chat applications.

I’m still having trouble with this.

I have a hosted domain, though when I try to enter my hosted app domain, it keeps looping to the gmail.com address I have. . .

Just download the Google Talk software and enter in your username and password for your hosted account. It should start notifying you of any email going to that inbox.

Please let me know if this does not solve you problem.

The Digsby IM client allows for checking your Google Apps account. A truly great Windows IM client IMHO.
