Dog Screen Cleaner Screensavers – 4 Different Dogs (Win & Mac)

Thanks to Bill Godwin passed this along to me. These screen savers are from the movie “Must Love Dogs“. I’ve never seen it, but if you have, please leave a comment and let me know how it was.
Update: If you’re having trouble with the “flash.ocx” file, please follow the directions below:
1. Browse to the C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlash folder.
2. Locate the flash9.ocx file and right click it and select copy.
3. Right click in a blank spot of the same folder and select paste.
4. You will then find you have a file called Copy of Flash9.ocx in the folder.
5. Right click the new file and select rename and rename to flash.ocx
Thanks Traaceyy for finding this at techenigma.com.

February 27th, 2008 @ 2:54 pm
This was awesome! Thank you so much!
By the way, I did have to use the workaround and the new file name should be
Flash.ocx not Flash9.ocx
Figured that out from trial and error.
March 17th, 2008 @ 8:03 am
can i put this screensaver to my cellphone? i have a phone similar to pocketpc.thanks
February 24th, 2008 @ 6:06 am
Dear Cosma,
I also had the same problem with flash.ocx and after looking in internet, I could solve the problem. It is very easy.
You may find it in the following link:
http://blogs.chron.com/helpline/archives/2007/02/flashocx_error.html
Besides, this is a copy of the text how to solve the problem:
To do this, browse to the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder. Locate the flash9.ocx file and right click it and select copy. Now just right click in a blank spot of the same folder and select paste. You will then find you have a file called Copy of Flash9.ocx in the folder. Right click the new file and select rename and change the name to flash.ocx.
Please enjoy it. It is so cute!
March 12th, 2008 @ 8:23 am
yes the 64 bit vista has many problems within itself. On the vista 64 bit. You have the option to run it in a 32 bit version to see the file. Go to settings then look for that option.
February 25th, 2008 @ 5:07 am

February 25th, 2008 @ 6:19 pm
The one in the top right left hand corner downloads and installs fine but when you try to open it gives this message: You cannot use the screen saver dog1 on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version. Please help.

March 3rd, 2008 @ 5:52 pm
it sayss that i need a newer version on my mac. very cute though!
March 3rd, 2008 @ 10:33 pm
This was really cute! When I first saw the “subject”, I grinned, thinking it was one I had received before, but cute enough to’read’ again. So, imagine my surprise when I opened it and saw this adorable little Pug! The one I got before, and this will be of interest to Kristie David, (above) who replied to this on 2/27 and inquired if there were any with cats. The one I previously received WAS of a little kitten!! And just as adorable as this Pug!! I can’t help her with a website, but just put kittenscreensavers in your search engine and see what happens. You have nothing to lose by trying! Good luck! And to who ever thought this up – three cheers!! Something good, clean and wholesome and if this doesn’t make you smile, well then, I’d say you have a serious problem!! Have a great day and thanks again for sharing this little cutie!
March 5th, 2008 @ 2:20 am
I Love the Pug. I got one looks just like it.
March 6th, 2008 @ 3:23 pm
I have a Mac and it ran the zip file but in the middle of the install it gave me “an error occurred: -5000 The Screen Saver could not be installed because an error occurred.”
Any idea what the problem could be?
July 25th, 2008 @ 7:29 am
Me too
whats the problem – please cause i really love this
October 6th, 2008 @ 3:30 pm
I have a completely unrelated screensaver I tried to install and I got the SAME -5000 error. (Crisis Core official screensaver, Mac version, of course) with both the US AND the Japanese versions.
WHAT is the issue? That error message tells me nothing.
March 6th, 2008 @ 10:34 pm
Hi,
I was walking by a co-workers office today and noticed your screen saver running on his PC. I just had to have it and asked him where he got it. He sent me your link to this site. Unfortunately it will not work on my new Mac Pro and was hoping you could help me. Here are the detailed steps I took to attempt to make it work and the error I received.
1. Download file (For MAC)
2. Expand file using Stuffit to my download folder
3. Ran dog4_osx
4. Warner Brother Logo comes up and it looks like it is trying to install the screen saver then error in step 5.
5. Error – ” The screen saver could not be installed because an error occurred.
If you could send me a work around to : Davidb17@verizon.net I would really appreciate it.
thanks
David Bucher

March 13th, 2008 @ 6:37 pm
Hi!! WOW, what a BRILLIANT idea!!! I downloaded dog3, because it was the closest dog that you had to my Maltese… I wish you had one of a Maltese and also one of a Bassett Hound, because I have 2 dogs of those breeds… both of my dogs are white in color. My parents’ dog is a Silky Terrier, and I KNOW they would just LOVE to have the screen saver made after their “Sam”. It would look great on ALL of their computers they have in their home!!! Thank you SO much for sharing these wonderful creations with all of us! Please continue to make them in more breeds!! I will be checking back periodically to see if you have my Maltese or my Bassett/Springer anytime in the near future! I’ll also check for my parents’ Silky Terrier! Thanks again and GOD BLESS!! REEBEERENEE!

April 15th, 2008 @ 11:24 pm
These will play on Flash Player 8 but not on Flash Player 9 . You would need to go into your control panel – add and remove programs – uninstall Flash Player #9. Go to http://www.FlashPlayer.com and install FlashPlayer #8 (Free)

I just love this screensaver! I have never been a dog lover but after 20 years together I finally gave in and let the hubby have his dream…. A rottweiler… pretty big decision for a gal who never had a dog before! But I have to tell you all… She is the most loving and playful creature I ever met!! So can we have a Rottie screen? Let’s face it… It would be funny!! I have a rottie you could use!
May 29th, 2008 @ 5:38 am

May 30th, 2008 @ 6:18 am
I saw this at my doctor’s office and it was sooo cute! I asked the nurse if she knew where it came from and she said that she had so many requests for it that she printed the address. She opened her drawer and gave me a strip of paper with the address. It obviously is very popular! I am a dog lover(i have 3, a poodle, a schnoodle, schorkie, a guinea pig and 4 birds too) and I love this screensaver! Kudos to the maker.
May 31st, 2008 @ 9:28 pm

oops … I get the message “This screensaver has expired” ???
June 8th, 2008 @ 10:21 pm
I saw must love dogs when it came out…
We were the only ones in the theater. o__o;
I was only about 12 years old though, it didn’t appeal to me, so I spent the time making shadow puppets on the screen with the projector. The dogs in it are cute though.
June 13th, 2008 @ 9:45 am
So has anyone found a work around for intel based mac yet? I also got it unstuffed, said it was properly installed but when i tried to choose it on the screensavers it said contact the developer for a newer version.
June 30th, 2008 @ 5:10 am
The screensaver doesn’t work on newer Macs… So, for people using a 10.4 Mac or later, try SaveHollywood. It lets you use a video as your screensaver!
http://s.sudre.free.fr/Software/SaveHollywood.html
October 12th, 2008 @ 9:36 pm
They need to upgrade to a new version if Screentime for Flash – it fixes this problem.
June 27th, 2008 @ 4:44 pm
Anyone else have the “expired” message after a day or so?

January 31st, 2009 @ 9:24 am
Hi everybody!
I would like to download one of the dog screensavers…but it doesn`t work on my macbook.
Could someone please help me??
Tanks a lot!
February 14th, 2009 @ 1:17 pm
If you have a macbook core2duo don’t download any of these dog screen cleaner screensavers !! I did and there was an error and then everything was wiped from my desktop. I can’t find the stuff anywhere. As far as I know it’s gone for good!
February 14th, 2009 @ 3:36 pm
It’s not deleted just moved. I think these screen savers were created a while ago which seemed to be causing some issues with newer macs.
March 5th, 2009 @ 7:49 pm
If you still have the“dog.saver” file on your desk top here is what you do to get your files back…
Right click (or control+click) and click on “show package contents”
You should see your files. Drag your files onto your desktop.
February 20th, 2009 @ 2:06 pm
GREAT STUFF
PLEASE MORE BREEDS BULLDOG AND Horses Please
February 27th, 2009 @ 11:32 am
For those having issues with Mac, the error isn’t just on the Macs that are intel based, it’s because the installer isn’t working on Mac OS 10.5+ (Leopard). I was working on a fix for this, but hit a dead end. xbMovieMaker is a free alternative, but doesn’t work with leopard either. The SaveHollywood program mentioned before isn’t working with the original .swf file I have (though maybe someone has the .flv file and got it to work). I’m not up for shelling out $50 for the conversion program, no matter how much I love the pug.
March 4th, 2009 @ 5:37 pm
If you use a mac and have had all of your files disappear when trying to install the screen saver don’t worry…here is what you do….
If you don’t see the “dog.saver” file on your desk top, look in your trash. If it is in there pull it out on your desktop.
Right click (or control+click) and click on “show package contents”
You should see your files. Drag your files onto your desktop.
March 13th, 2009 @ 11:00 pm
when i download it for mac it saves as a .sit file. how do i fix this?

July 17th, 2009 @ 7:01 am
I just wanted to leave a comment for any of those that cannot find C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash on your computer to fix this problem. I could NOT find the folder that was stated to look for in the drive
I do NOT have this folder in my computer. I use the 64bit Vista and it doesn’t list the folder containing the flash.ocx as this. It IS indeed THIS ADDRESS……
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
BECAUSE when you’re using 64bit vista, it isn’t in the system32 folder, it’s in the SysWOW64 folder.
Anyway, here’s the rules to fix the problem with the right folder.
1. Browse to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
folder.
2. Locate the flash10b.ocx file and right click it and select copy.
3. Right click in a blank spot of the same folder and select paste.
4. You will then find you have a file called Copy of Flash10b.ocx in the folder.
5. Right click the new file and select rename and rename to flash.ocx
